Hello My Name Is...

Joshua Ostini, Dean of Students

 

     Joshua is a Santa Maria native; product of the Santa Maria-Bonita and Santa Maria Joint Union High School Districts. He earned Bachelor’s degree and Single Subject Teaching Credential at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

     After earning his Bachelors, he and his wife taught English learners at Dalian University in Dalian, China for eight months. Upon coming back to the United States, he immediately began his teaching career in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District teaching English to ninth through 11th graders. 

     In the fall of 2014, Josh began supporting the Multilingual and Migrant Education Program as an English Learner Program Coordinator, increasing access, services and the achievement of the vast EL population in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District. In this role he led three PLCs, supported certificated and classified staff, and reformed structures within the district to better serve the English learner population.

     He earned his Preliminary Administrative Services Credential through the Santa Barbara County Office of Education  and his Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration, with an emphasis in Professional Learning Communities, from Brandman University.

     For the last three years, Mr. Ostini has been working in the Santa-Maria Bonita School District as a Dean and Assistant Principal, cultivating safe and positive learning environments by monitoring student discipline, attendance, and academic progress to ensure student success.

     Josh Ostini is passionate and student-centered, a committed and hard worker (and like challenges), collaborative, and values communication.

     When not working in education, Mr. Ostini loves spending time with his wife, Ashley, and three kids (2 boys and a girl), running, and watching his Premier League soccer club, Arsenal.
